Good question!
The shifts are in 8-hour patterns; 0600–1400, 1400–2200 and 2200–0600 hours. As well as dispatching trains safely, a typical day would involve helping customers with queries about train times, train platforms and getting them to their destinations. It would also involve helping customers to get on and off the trains if they need help or support. Once a train has completed a journey, a dispatcher would empty a train and send it to the depot for checking.
I hope this helps to paint more of a picture for you.
