Are Trainee Driver positions offered often in Cornwall?
Additional information
I see there is a Trainee Driver advertised for GWR in several Cornwall depots. I should not apply to this position until after September, due to extenuating circumstances. However the circumstances are not insurmountable so if absolutely ncessary I could apply and not miss this golden opportunity.

Good Afternoon, Kelly.
Hope you're well. As you've alluded to, we currently have a live vacancy on our careers site for GWR in Penzance. If it's something you're interested in, I would recommend getting your application in soon, as not only can these adverts close early, but we also can't predict when another opportunity will become available.
I would recommend train driving to anyone, I still love getting in a train and driving.
Any questions, please do ask. That's what we're here for 🙂

Hello Paul! How important is it that I have an car? I currently do not have my own transportation but I was planning on acquiring one close to November. I read one of the requirements of this position is to live within an hour of the Penzance depot, and I am not allowed to use public transportation due to the earlier/late start times. If I am selected for the role is it permissable to rely on a friend or even taxi for transportation the first few months?

This would be covered in the interview with the Driver Management Team. Our operation requires Train Drivers to start and finish at unsociable times, which means you need a guaranteed way of travelling to/from the depot. When applying for any train driver roles, a fatigue factor needs to be considered. Hope this helps, but please keep your questions coming.
