Career path is a development plan set towards achieving desired goals
Prior to enrolling at Oxford Brookes University for a degree in Business and Management Practice, my goal was to become a senior business analyst, even though I had no idea on how to achieve this. Understanding the concept of achieving my vision became much simpler than I anticipated with the guidance of my lecturer. He guided me in conducting a detailed SWOT analysis in order to determine my strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
In line with my vision, I evaluated what my aspirational role entailed to enable myself create a detailed 5-year career plan based on the SWOT analysis results. Similarly, the 5-year plan permitted the establishment of both short- and long-term goal. For example, obtaining a 3-year bachelor's degree in business and management was identified as a long-term objective, whereas developing diverse leadership styles and interpersonal skills was identified as a short-term goal.
My chosen career path has not only helped me develop my vision, but it has also kept me informed of a broad range of opportunities within Great Western Railway and First Group. This has motivated me to improve both my professional and personal skills, and as a result increase my employability levels

Working in a diverse culture that fosters greater engagement.
Working in a diverse culture has provided me with numerous positive experiences since I started working for Great Western Railway. This has helped me understand other cultures and their behaviours. Although it can be difficult at times, it is a rewarding experience overall. When a company recognises the value of diversification, the results can be extremely beneficial.
According to a study conducted by the Hult International Business School (2023), organisations that embrace cultural diversity in the workplace have higher levels of productivity and profitability, enhanced levels of innovation, and superior levels of performance.
As a member of the Oxford Carriage Sidings team, I can attest to the fact that strong cultural diversity has enriched the sidings' workforce by fostering high-quality relationships among co-workers.

Achieving my bachelor's degree in Business and Management Practice.
My most significant achievements was graduating from Oxford Brookes University with a bachelor's degree in business and management practice. Although I have had many accomplishments, such as contributing to the evaluation of GWR's printing sustainability and delivering a 5-bedroom residential house project on time and within budget, my bachelor's degree in business and management practice remain one of my greatest achievement. This has increased both my professional reputation and employability rating. I am extremely grateful to the people, particularly my professors, who made this journey possible. I consider this achievement to be the beginning of opening new opportunities in my life and in the world.
