That is a really good question, Thank you for that.
Our responsible plan is built on four pillars which help focus the sustainable development goals we're aiming for. Our plan will protect our planet, with our people at its heart, doing what's right for our customers and improving life in our communities.
Our People: I actively listen to my colleagues from all grades but in particular the driving community. It's important that I encourage my colleagues to develop a diverse culture to best attract people from all walks of life. This is something that I will discuss during Driver Interviews which often opens the door to further discussions. It's important for our people to echo the four pillars in their daily work.
Our Customers: Without our customers we wouldn't have a railway to operate. They are at the heart of everything we do. This starts the moment they walk into any one of our stations. Sometimes we encounter some service disruption and that is my time to head to the concourse and be amongst our customers and assist in whatever way I can. This continues onboard the train too...When I'm driving I am always conscious of customers moving around the train, families, and the elderly. So I pay particular attention to crossovers at junctions, accelerating away from stations, and of course bring the train to a perfect stop (so much that you didn't realise you arrived). I am passionate about customer service and it's important I play my part in helping Avanti West Coast succeed in listening and acting to our customer needs.
I play my part ensuring every day I come to work with our sustainability plans in the forefront of everything I do to ensure I play my part on this massive operation to keep the West Coast Mainline running. It takes a lot more than the Train Driver to get those wheels turning, but my support within the depot can give our drivers the confidence to deliver an on time service.
