Application Support – HR and Recruitment

Hi James,

GWR recruit for trainee train drivers both internally and externally. At this moment in time no vacancies are being advertised, however when they are they will be found here. It would then just be a case of submitting an online application, after which will you be invited to complete an online assessment and the process would continue from there.

Hi Alex,

Thank you for your reply. Do you know roughly when they are likely to be recruiting for trainee drivers externally? How frequently do they recruit?

Thanks,

James

GWR will typically advertise externally for trainee train drivers two or three times a year, however this is normally driven by changing operational requirements. Campaigns are also commonly done on a regional basis, so in the West (Cornwall/Devon area), Central (Bristol and Wales area) and the East (London and Reading area). It is likely that there will be some sort of campaign over the next month or so, however your best bet is to register for job alerts via the careers site, as then you will be notified by email whenever a vacancy is advertised that matches your set criteria. Alternatively, you can keep checking the above page, as that's where any vacancies will be advertised.
